I had been serving at my church's urgent care clinic for a few years and had noticed Diana there. I noticed that she always seemed very hard working and was at the clinic quite often, and that she was very beautiful! One day we were serving together and Diana seemed interested in talking with me, which had not been my experience thus far. That was all the encouragement I needed. So I asked her if she would like to go out and she responded "like on a date?" Despite this rather discouraging response, I replied in the affirmative, and Diana said yes :)
I quickly found Diana to be very easy to talk to and spend time with, it just felt effortless and fun. I wondered, how did such a beautiful woman agree to go out with me? She was always smiling, and I discovered she was a very sweet, godly, loyal, fun, and courageous woman, even though she did love to get reactions out of me by "trolling" me with her sense of humor. She continually blew me away with her beautiful heart to love God and love others, and the way she encouraged me at my lowest and celebrated me in the good times.
I soon fell in love with her, and after a month I asked her to be my girlfriend, six months later I told her I loved her for the first time, nine days later she told me she loved me, and on August 14, 2024 I asked her to marry me, and by the grace of God here we are! Through Diana, God has shown me once again that he gives good gifts to people who don't deserve them, just as he gave his son Jesus to die for me when I did not deserve it, and as he has shown me continually through the years. Diana, I am so grateful to have you as my fiancée and I am so excited to marry you!
I started serving at my church's urgent care in 2020. I loved the people I served with. They had amazing hearts for serving the Lord and combining that with treating the medical needs of the community.
I met Jaime during this time and remember thinking that it was pretty cool that he had such a heart to serve. I was also struck by what a calming effect he had. It seemed like nothing could get under his skin. I remember other volunteers remarking on how relaxed he was and how he would be a great paramedic to learn from.
I saw Jaime at the clinic the next few years here and there. I was always very approachable and talkative... well, okay...maybe sometimes I would be a little shy.
One day Jaime mentioned a community group that he was a part of. It sounded fun. I wanted to ask him for his number before he left so I could get more information about the group. But the clinic was busy and next thing I remember Jaime was saying goodbye and walking out the door. I remember thinking I'll have to ask him for the group information next time I saw him. A little later, as I was leaving the clinic, Jaime surprised me and asked if I wanted to go out some time. I was pretty shocked and did NOT see it coming. I may have asked for some clarity on what exactly he meant. After a few seconds of thought I said yes and I'm so glad I did!
I think it's amazing how God knows when we're ready for the next chapter of life before we even do. I remember thinking: why now? Why not two years ago, or three? Then, I'm reminded of Isaiah 55:8-9, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." I know that it was God's perfect timing.
Jaime, I am so grateful that God has brought us together. Over the past year and a half you have made me laugh in the ups and downs of life, cared for me with gentleness, and loved me selflessly. But most importantly you have consistently pointed me to Christ. You have exceeded my expectations in so many ways and I praise God for you. I am thrilled and honored to take this next step into marriage with my best friend.
